Shadow theater is an ancient technique that is little known by the general public and many artists want to investigate the secrets of this art. The course will present the principles that guide a production with this theatrical technique, in addition, we will know the origin and the paths that brought shadow theater to the present day and we will show the first steps for the assembly of a shadow theater show.​

• HISTORY OF THE SHADOW THEATER (THEORY)

​

In the West, the philosopher, Plato, makes reference to the shadow theater in the Allegory of the Cave, an important text for Western philosophy. In the East, there are documents that prove that the shadow theater appeared thousands of years ago. To understand how the shadow theater arrived in Brazil, we will receive researchers who will share their knowledge.

• FIRST STEPS (PRACTICE)

​

Participants will have contact with essential elements for mounting a shadow theater show.

The step by step for the creation of a show involves choices and knowledge of the different possible formats of this art.
